The Elevation Series EL210t (touring) and EL210i (installation) medium format line array cabinets solve the limitations presented in conventional loudspeaker design using the Synergy Horn and Paraline lens technologies invented by Tom Danley and licensed to VTC Pro Audio.

The North American made Elevation Series enclosures utilize two B&C 10" neodymium woofers and two BMS 1" compression drivers mounted to the patented Paraline horn lens for a smooth, flat frequency response from 55Hz to 20kHz at a maximum SPL of 136DB (HF) and 129db(LF) and are constructed of solid 5/8" Baltic birch plywood.

The proprietary rigging hardware of the EL210t allows for vertical box-to-box splay angles in 1º increments from 0º to 10º with a horizontal coverage pattern extending 90º while allowing for up to 16 cabinets to be hung in a J curve, or 18 boxes in a dead hang.

While horizontal dispersion is wide enough to deliver effective room coverage, precise control and focusing of vertical dispersion is essential to maintaining a well-behaved, coherent wave with a minimum of cabinet interference, comb filtering or lobing. Therefore, one of the most difficult aspects in the design of a line array loudspeaker is finding an effective way to control the vertical dispersion at high frequencies. This can be achieved if the vertical dispersion is tightly focused into a narrow, slightly curved wave front that does not interfere with the waves emanating from the cabinets immediately above and below. Ideally this wave front would be flat, but a slightly curved wave front avoids gaps in the vertical coverage when the array is articulated in the same plane.

Conventional high frequency horns as used in typical point source loudspeaker design create a wave front with pronounced curvature. If used in a vertical array this degree of curvature leads to lobing and other forms of phase cancellation between enclosures with subsequent comb-filtering in various audience areas and degradation of the overall sound quality. The beauty of the seamless marriage between the Paraline horn lens technology and that of the Synergy Horn for the low frequency is that it solves this problem itself by design, freeing the user to focus on making the most of the mix without having to worry about the quality of sound at any point or position in the room.

This Elevation Series design concept delivers the highly effective performance of a single horn/driver system with high sensitivity (efficient power transfer), a well-defined, predictable coverage with exceptionally flat frequency response and excellent directivity control. This makes the combined Synergy Horn and Paraline lens technologies the ideal basis for a truly modular vertical line array loudspeaker enclosure.
